Study of the Oyster

We are using this 2024 OBX Taste of The Beach to re-introduce a totally unique concept called “Oyster Flights”. This is getting to be big and you get to be some of the first ones to enjoy! So…we’ve put together a comfortable down-home “Study of the Oyster” for you and your friends to thoroughly indulge in.

ROUND ONE
A fresh shucked oyster shooter made with our signature Crabby Mary mix and Absolute Pepper vodka with celery, lime and lemon garnish OR with a splash of hot sauce and one of our 11 draught beers.

ROUND TWO
Oyster Flights! Picture sitting at the bar as your server puts 12 stainless steel cups with oysters topped four different ways into an oven right in front of you. A couple minutes later, they have been pulled out and placed into a drilled out paddle boards (kinda like a beer paddle) then they are being topped-add a lemon fork and DDX buttered-n-toasted bread (in case there’s any juice soppin’ to do)…and now it’s on the way to you. The 2 paddles consist of:
*3 Classic oysters – with our DDX Butter
*3 Oysters Rockefeller-spinach and parmesan with a kiss of anise
*3 Jalapeno and DDX butter with cheddar cheese (a touch spicy)
*3 Crab dip and cheddar cheese

ROUND THREE
An ice cold draught beer in a frozen glass OR a glass of wine

ROUND FOUR
Fresh Fried Oysters sittin’ atop Angel hair pasta and our homemade smoky tomato-basil-cream sauce with wilted spinach. Garnished with fresh parmesan and fresh basil.

Here’s the backstory. Twelve to fifteen years ago when Dirty Dick’s was in our previous location, we did a thing called Grilled Oysters. It was hugely popular and a great success, but our new building wasn’t set to do it. We just accepted that not being able to do them was the price of expanding. So for years we’ve had people coming in and requesting them. We have always wanted to recapture the buzz and wondered how to pull something similar off. Fast forward 2 years ago…Our owner, Beany Macgregor, along with his General Manager and kitchen guru, Jeremy Smyth at our Panama City location invented these flights and mastered how to do them. In those 2 short years they have become the #1 item on their menu. They never advertised them – this just all happened due to word-of-mouth and how incredibly awesome they are. That sort of buzz is unheard of in this day and age. This is literally the maiden voyage of this new concept on the Outer Banks. It will probably be so big that someone else will eventually copy it.

If your group is lucky enough to get sat at the bar, you’ll get to see it go down right in front of you! Feel free to call the restaurant to reserve your space after purchasing your tickets. Please limit your stay to under one and half hours so other can enjoy it as well.

Be sure to bring some cash to tip your bartenders and servers! Gratuity is NOT INCLUDED. Thank you for your support!
