An incredible opportunity to see and learn on location from the experts about oysters.

Begin at the Wanchese home of the North Carolina Coastal Federation, and hear about their mission to keep our coastal waters healthy and the natural oyster reef restoration projects that are so integral in that effort. Then go out on the water with oyster expert and James Beard award winning author Rowan Jacobsen, and OBX mariculture pioneer Joey Daniels of Bodie Island Oyster, out to his lease on the Pamlico Sound. See his oyster farm in operation, pull up some oysters out of the water and see the incredible ecosystem that oyster farming generates, and sample some bivalves right at the source along with some liquid libation. (21 and over only).

Outdoor event so please dress accordingly (it’s always colder on the water) and waterproof boots encouraged. Two back to back sessions, 9:00am sharp, and 10:30am sharp -so don’t miss the boat!
