Well folks, the ever-popular OBX Chowder Cookoff, hosted by Coastal Provisions Oyster Bar & Wine Bar Café in Southern Shores, continues to break records each year.  Annually it’s the highest attended event in our lineup of restaurant hosted events and this year was no exception.

The Annual Chowder Cookoff actually sold out to capacity in pre-event sales this year. 600 smart folks bought their tickets in advance (300 of them secured their commemorative t-shirt included too!) Other folks that didn’t purchase in advance were bummed because this time around there were no available tickets at the door.  With the weather forecasted to be clear and warm (and it was!) lots of attendees knew there may be only one way to get into the Chowder Cookoff this year, and that was to purchase in advance and early.  If you didn’t get so lucky this year, we are sorry, but this should give you motivation to buy early next year.

It would be an understatement to say a good time was had by all.  Again, one of the most fun events in Taste of the Beach, everyone in attendance had a blast eating some of the most delicious chowders we have ever had.  For those of you who love the unique brothy base of Hatteras style, you even got one of those. Dirty Dick’s Crab House made a killer Hatteras style chowder and it (without surprise) place 3rd.  Check out all the results below!

Peoples Choice:
1st Striper’s
2nd Goombay’s
3rd Cravings

Judges Awards:
1st Stripers ($1000)
2nd Metropolis ($500)

Thanks to all that came out and made it a great event.
