Join "The Biggest Loser" winners Ed Brantley and Heba Salama for this fun, exciting, and interactive cooking demonstration.  Sit back comfortably and enjoy the bantering of these two while they are on stage cooking and sharing stories of their adventures with "The Biggest Loser" and how they have been able to maintain "Healthy Eating & Healthy Living".

Ed will be preparing scrumptious healthy appetizers, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and healthy cooking techniques he learned at "The Biggest Loser" ranch.

Ed will be preparing  a Tuna Chalupa- Corn tortilla topped with a wasabi slaw, rare tuna and pickled ginger.  Next will be Ed's Two Bite Shrimp and Grits- mini shrimp and grits (made the healthy way!) served in shot glasses (fun and tasty). After that he will move onto Lobster Spring Rolls- Chilled rice paper with carrots, cucumber, lettuce, basil, cilantro, bean sprouts and lobster, served cold with 2 dipping sauces.  Last but not least he will prepare Shrimp Bruschetta- tomatoes, herbs, feta, olive oil on crisp thin baguette topped with a grilled shrimp.

Born and raised in North Carolina, "The Biggest Loser" finalist Ed is a graduate of the prestigious Johnson and Wales College of Culinary Arts in Charleston, South Carolina. While in Charleston, Ed worked under Donald Barickman, one of the South's most prominent chefs, at Magnolia's. He then moved on to Chef de Cuisine at the Bully Ranch at Sonnenalp Resort in Vail, Colorado, a 4 Star, 4 Diamond Leading Hotels of the World property. On Thursday, March 11, Outer Banks Epicurean hosts salty foodART exhibition Amuse Bouche: A Collector’s Reception from 6 pm – 8 pm. This reception helps kick off Outer Banks Restaurant Associations Taste of the Beach weekend and welcomes art collectors and aficionados interested in purchasing original artwork by local artists. Expect true Outer Banks flavors in both the amazing art and the tasty treats!

Salty food/ART Exhibition features potter, glass, textiles, photographs, paintings, metal, wood, new media - all inspired by culinary art.  More than 50 highly accredited and internationally collected artists will be featured and they all have one thing in common - they live on The Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Salty food/ART Exhibition is a collaborative between Outer Banks Epicurean and the Dare County Arts Council.  The month long event will coincide with the Outer Banks Restaurant Association's OBX Taste of The Beach Weekend.

On Friday evening guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists!

Four Entree Cooking Class

Chef Lee Miller opens his galley teaching and preparing four "chef-level" entrees that you can easily replicate in your own kitchen.  You will learn to cook and sample four complete entrees.  While preparing each delicacy, Chef Lee will demonstrate "side-skills" - cooking techniques including making your own cooking "essentials".  You will eat heartily throughout the class so a light to no breakfast is recommended.  "Cooks" should arrive between 9:45am and 10:00am to settle their belongings, get a morning beverage, and grab an apron!  Questions, cameras, and video cameras are welcome.  Dress comfortably and bring your appetite!

Salty food/ART Exhibition is a collaborative between Outer Banks Epicurean and the Dare County Arts Council.  The month long event will coincide with the Outer Banks Restaurant Association's OBX Taste of The Beach Weekend.

North Carolina Farm to Table Dinner at The Lifesaving Station

Executive Chef Joshua Hollinger welcomes local providers to celebrate the Lifesaving Station commitment to using meats, poultry and fish all from within 150 miles of the resort.  This four course Farm to Table dinner will be served family style only using North Carolina products. The evening will feature special guests who have helped the Sanderling achieve its commitment to local and sustainable.

The evening will feature Uli Bennowitz and his wife, Eileen, owners of the Weeping Radish Farm and Brewery.  They are located in Currituck County and one of the originators of the Farm to Fork concepts on the Outer Banks. Weeping Radish is world famous for their uniquely brewed beers.  

Karl Helmkaph and his wife, Cathy, will also be honored guests for the evening.  Karl is a native of the Outer Banks and a well known hunter and sport fisher. He has helped to introduce the Sanderling to the waters of the Outer Banks and has been a big proponate of supporting the Sanderling’s goal of using local seafood.

Oussie and Mary-Betty Kearney from Nooherooka Farms will also join the dinner from Snow Hill, NC.  They are committed to producing an all natural beef product that is pasture raised and grain fed with no added hormones or antibiotics.

Anne Parsons, founder of the Slow Food Convivium of East North Carolina and Author of “Kitchen Memories: A Legacy of Family Recipes from Around the World”  lives in Kitty Hawk and will join with her husband, Jim.

Featured wines will be poured from winemaker, John Wright, of SanctuaryVineyards located just 20 minutes away in Currituck County.  Sanctuary Vineyards was recently awarded at the NC State Fair a double gold medal for its blackberry wine and  a gold medal for its “Sweet Serenity” white wine, a silver medal for its blueberry wine and three bronze medals for its “Coastal Collage 2007,” “Lightkeeper” and “White Sand (NV).”

Join "The Biggest Loser" finalists Ed Brantley and Heba Salama for this fun, exciting, and interactive cooking demonstration.  Sit back comfortably and enjoy the bantering of these two while they are on stage cooking and sharing stories of their adventures with "The Biggest Loser" and how they have been able to maintain "Healthy Eating & Healthy Living".

Ed will be preparing scrumptious healthy appetizers, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and healthy cooking techniques he learned at "The Biggest Loser" ranch.

Ed will be preparing  a Tuna Chalupa- Corn tortilla topped with a wasabi slaw, rare tuna and pickled ginger.  Next will be Ed's Two Bite Shrimp and Grits- mini shrimp and grits (made the healthy way!) served in shot glasses (fun and tasty). After that he will move onto Lobster Spring Rolls- Chilled rice paper with carrots, cucumber, lettuce, basil, cilantro, bean sprouts and lobster, served cold with 2 dipping sauces.  Last but not least he will prepare Shrimp Bruschetta- tomatoes, herbs, feta, olive oil on crisp thin baguette topped with a grilled shrimp.
